Dr. Sharon Paynter

Acting Chief Research and Engagement Officer
Paynter earned her doctorate in public administration from North Carolina State University, her master’s from the University of Denver, and her MPA and bachelor’s degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill. She is the acting chief research and engagement officer and is an associate professor of political science. Paynter’s research interests include hunger, poverty and public policy.

Dr. Janire Pascual

Postdoctoral Scholar, Research, Economic Development and Engagement
Pascual received her doctorate in chemical, environmental and processes engineering at Universitat Rovira i Virgili of Tarragona, Spain in 2015. Since September of 2017, Pascual serves as a postdoctoral scholar in ECU’s Office of Research, Economic Development and Engagement. Her research focuses on the development of systematic methods to assess and optimize consumption production systems from a sustainable perspective.

Dr. Antoni Aguilar Mogas

Postdoctoral Scholar, Research, Economic Development and Engagement
Aguilar Mogas received his doctorate in theoretical chemistry from the University of Barcelona, Spain, in 2011. He serves as a postdoctoral scholar in ECU’s Office of Research, Economic Development and Engagement. Aguilar Mogas’s specializes in the treatment of big data using Bayesian inference methods coupled with machine learning techniques.
